About the Work
Double-warp fabric (Polish: tkanina dwuosnowowa) is a traditional, handwoven decorative textile originating from northeastern Poland, particularly from the Janów and Czarna Białostocka regions in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
Weaving technique
The double-warp method uses two sets of warp threads and a single weft thread. During weaving, one warp forms the background, while the other creates the pattern, producing a reversible design with inverted colors on each side.
Wooden frame construction
The frame of the screen is made of willow wood sourced from Podlasie, crafted by a local carpenter artisan.
